Roots On Whyte is a diverse group of health and wellness professionals, customers, suppliers, families, friends and neighbours who are committed to building a strong and vibrant community. Our beautiful new home we call [community building] located in the heart of Old Strathcona serves as a meeting place for our community, but we hope you will take this community feeling with you wherever you go.
Birth
The Roots On Whyte community has been a part of Edmonton since 1997, where it began as a herbal and vitamin supplement store called “Herb ‘N’ Health” on Whyte Avenue. Herb ‘N’ Health became known for its signature brand of herbal supplements produced locally under its private label “Herb ‘N’ Health”, its unique and high quality essential oil combinations and the largest bulk herb selection in the city.
Teenage years
Recognizing the emerging organic trend in the health food industry, Herb ‘N’ Health expanded into Organic Roots in 2002, a large scale health food market complete with a nutritional supplement section, organic grocery & produce, and restaurant located in the University area.
The spring of 2008 marked another chapter in the store’s history, as part of the establishment moved into its temporary space on Whyte Ave while plans for the new development were under way. Organic Roots joined forces with Refresh Organic Bistro to continue the tradition of healthy living.
 Grown-up
Organic Roots has grown up. Expanding on the synergy experienced in its University location, our community has grown to include a full complement of health and wellness professionals. Complete with organic grocery store, restaurant, organic butchery, coffee shop, supplement store, yoga, pilates, massage therapy, counseling, acupuncture, chiropractic & rehabilitation, natural vision care, graphic & website design, hair design, clinical hypnotherapy & energy psychology, naturopathic medicine, facials and spa treatments, infrared sauna, nutrition, aromatherapy, dental care, drop-in childcare and conference centre, we can now address every need of your body, mind and spirit.
